If you’re interested in becoming a member of Braintree Musical Society, here is the information that you will need.
New members are always welcome, so if you are interested in:
helping backstage or front of house
…come along and see what a friendly group we are!
We put on two musical events a year, with evening performances and may also have a matinee performance on the Saturday.
Rehearsals for the cast are usually on Mondays and Thursdays each week from 7.30pm – 10.00pm. Occasionally, Sunday rehearsals are required nearer to the performance dates, at the director’s discretion.
Regular attendance at rehearsals is important since we need to work together as a team. Cast members are expected to inform the director as soon as possible if they have to miss a rehearsal.
The annual membership fee is £30.00 which is tremendous value for a society of our history and background. The annual membership is valid for a full twelve months, for all shows and rehearsals.
There will be a show fee which will vary according to costs for each show. This can be paid by instalment at each rehearsal.
Costumes are usually hired by the Society but to reduce costs you may be asked to help by providing some items yourself. The cast usually provide their own footwear.
If you’d like to join the Society and do not wish to perform on stage, there are many other opportunities to make use of your invaluable skills towards the production and during show week – working backstage, front of house, helping with scenery or with props, costumes, etc.
Why not come along and find out more?
